Professional bodies, NGOs donate PPE for public hospitals

A number of local and international NGOs, voluntary organizations and professional bodies donated Personal Protection Equipment’s (PPE) to health-service providers to fight the novel coronavirus outbreak. They started distributing PPE in government hospitals in Dhaka and the port city of Chittagong on Monday. 

They will donate PPE to the divisional citites and district hospitals in phases, reports BSS. Some 280 pieces of PPE were donated on Sunday to the Central Medical Stores Depot at Tejgaon in the city on first phase.

With the initiative of the Manush Mashuer Joonno Foundation, Pay it Forward Bangladesh, British American Tobacco Bangladesh, local office of Marks and Spencer, Rotary club of Dhaka North West supervised the voluntary activity of Rotary clubs, BCS 82 batch, Bangladesh Civil Service (taxation) Association and some other groups sponsored or extended helping hands in preparing PPE.

Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) also joined the move. BSRM group also extended tits cooperation. The team members have called upon other organisations to join hand through their voluntary contribution to fight COVID-19 together.
