Country's both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) – on Sunday plunged further due to mainly price fall in large-cap securities.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went down by 17.49 points or 0.28 percent to 6,177.88. Two other indices also ended lower with the DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, plunged 2.17 points to finish at 2,191.43 and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) lost 4.57 points to close at 1,351.02. Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, remained low and amounted to Taka 1,465.11 million, which was Taka 1,784.26 million at the previous session of the week.
Out of 330 issues traded, 159 declined, 7 advanced and 164 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.
ICICL was the day's top gainer, posting 9.71 percent gain while ORIONINFU was the worst loser, losing 7.50 per cent.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended sharply lower with the CSE All Share Price Index - CASPI -losing 34.96 points to settle at 18,258.73 and the Selective Categories Index - CSCX shedding 21.12 points to close at 10,940.39.
Of the issues traded, 51 declined, 7 advanced and 89 issues remained unchanged on the CSE.
The port city's bourse traded 13.35 lakh shares and mutual fund units with turnover value worth about Taka 6.13 crore.
