Price fall in large-cap drives stocks down

Stocks on Sunday closed the session of the week with downward trend due mainly to price fall in large-cap securities.

The core index, DSEX closed the day with 25.09 points down at 5,070.69 points. The Shariah DSES and the blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 8.62 points down at 1,791.43 and with 5.08 points down at 1,178.36, reports BSS.

The daily trade fell to 8.01 crore shares from Thursday’s 11.27 crore shares and the day’s trade value at DSE decreased to Taka 332.41 crore from Taka 402.92 crore of the previous session.

At DSE, out of the day’s 351 securities, prices of 93 securities closed higher against 210 losing issues.

The major gaining issues were Kay&Que, PHARMAID, Aziz Pipes, Monno Stafflers and Desh Bandhu. The major losing companies were Padma Life, SEMLFBSLGF, SEMLIBBLSF, Global Insurance and PF1STMF.

Monno Ceramics topped the turnover list followed by Wata Chemical, Monno Stafflers, MJISMDL and National Polymer.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) closed the day of the week with downward trend with its major CASPI 80.38 points down at 15,500.22.

At CSE, 230 issues were traded. Of those, 58 closed higher and 136 closed lower when 44.36 lakh shares worth Taka 13.45 crore changed hands.
