Presidency University hosted a faculty-focused academic session titled “Strengthening Admission Quality Through Faculty Engagement” on Tuesday (December 23) at 2:00pm at the university campus.

The session was conducted by Mr. Jahid Hasan, Deputy Director and Head of Admission and Public Relations at Presidency University. The discussion highlighted the strategic role of faculty members in enhancing the quality of student admissions and ensuring academic alignment from the point of entry.

The program was chaired by Prof. Dr. Shahidul Islam Khan, Dean of the School of Engineering and Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). He said, Faculty involvement in the admission process is crucial, as it enables proper assessment of students’ subject-specific preparation, analytical ability, and academic interest. Such engagement helps reduce dropout rates and the risk of incorrect subject selection, while early academic guidance allows students to make informed decisions. In the long run, this approach contributes to improved quality in higher education, influencing academic outcomes and graduate competence.

Faculty members of CSE, EEE, and Civil Engineering departments and other officials of the university attended the session. The Proctor of Presidency University, Mr. Anisur Rahman, and the Director of Administration and Student Affairs, Mrs. Afroza Helen, also delivered their valuable speeches at the event.

Organized by the School of Engineering, the event aimed to strengthen collaboration between academic departments and the admissions process, with a focus on attracting, assessing, and retaining quality students.
