The police in Jhenaidah have arrested six youth over a tri-wheeler driver Ekramul Islam murder case in the midnight of Thursday. They were arrested from different areas of Jhenaidah, Kushtia and Magura.
The arrested were Tanvirul Islam Naim, Jakir Hosain, Shamim Hossain, Rashed Ali, Bappi Mandal and Sagar Mollah alias Saikat. They were resident of different areas of Magura and Jhenaidah.
Superintendent of police in Jhenaidah Muntasirul Islam said the police after conducting separate drives in Jhenaidah, Kushtia and Magra had arrested the six and seized the looted tri-wheeler and the sword used for killing Ekramul Islam. SP said the killers on October 12 had hired the tri-wheeler from Ekramul of Tetulbaria village of Jhenaidah Sadar. They took the driver in a field in Kaliganj and slaughtered him to dead. Then they fled from the scene with the vehicle.

The police on October 20 seized the decomposed body of Ekramul and sent the body to Jhenaidah Sadar hospital morgue for post mortem examination. Police arrested six youth when Rabiul Islam, a brother of Ekramul had filed a case with Jhenaidah Sadar police station in this connection. The arrested were sent to a Jhenaidah court, the police said.
Additional superintendent of police in Jhenaidah Sadar circle Abul Bashar, detective branch officer in charge Anwar Hossain, Kaliganj police station officer in charge Mahfuzur Rahman Mia among others were present.
