PM looks confident enough

Amid wide- ranging conspiracy against the country by some opposition parties,  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina looks to be more confident than ever by keeping the progress unhindered overcoming the situation created by the anti-liberation forces including BNP and other defeated forces in the War of Liberation. After returning from trips to the UK, USA and attending the 77th UNGA session she looks more confident.

BNP and a few small political groups are demanding election under unconstitutional system and deliberately creating unrest in the society in the name of political programmes. Sometimes they are turning violent and attacking their opponents and law enforcement agencies.

Sheikh Hasina knows very well that their motive is to destabilize the counttry’s development –friendly atmosphere and she also knows how to deal with them by unmasking their conspiratorial faces.

It is known to all that BNP is pursuing the politics of violence since its inception.

It has been established by the court investigation that the BNP founder General Zia was directly involved in the killing of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh mujibur Rahman. It has been further proved that Gen.Zia’s widow Khaleda Zia and their son Tareque Zia had been involved in the history’s worst and wanton grenade attack on the Awami League peace rally in a bid to kill the then opposition leader, now Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Scores of people were killed and grievously wounded in the August carnage. These events and subsequent diabolical happenings prove that it was a family of killers including Zia, his widow and his son. The irony is that the killers, who crushed democracy, gagged press freedom and trampled on human rights, are now demanding democracy and shouting for press freedom and human rights.

It has been also proved that General Zia was a killer and he continued to kill his opponents in the army till his death.

Gen.Zia helped the release of a notorious convict of seven-murder in Dhaka University case. Hundreds of similar types of criminals were sheltered by Zia and they got chance to enlist their names in BNP. Moreover, General Zia supplied small arms to the students of different Universities including Dhaka University, and with such indulgence from the president of the country, most of the young people of his party became terrorists and the terrorism spread broadly in the country. At one stage extortion became almost the order of the day and nobody could start construction of a building on his own land unless the armed hoodlums were paid a hefty amount of extortion money. Besides, corruption got an organized shape and it became rife when quite a number of army officers loyal to General Zia were appointed in the administration on deputation. Terrorism and corruption spread in a devastating form during the regime of General Zia.

It is a stark fact that the BNP was created by a General for perpetuating military rule by destroying democracy and human rights earned through a grim battle fought against the Pakistan Army during the War of Liberation in 1971 under the leadership of country’s great leader Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

General Zia breached the oath taken by touching holy Quran that he would protect the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the president of the Republic. On the contrary, he instigated the killers to assassinate the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Reports have it that when the killers met Zia in the Dhaka cantonment and asked his permission to kill the then president Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Zia neither refrained them nor did he arrest them. He had rather instigated them. It was reported that Zia told them, “Do whatever you want to, but don’t come to me again”. This sort of statement proved undoubtedly his involvement in the killing of the Father of the Nation. The latter happenings were known to the people of the country that Zia awarded the killers lucrative jobs and created barriers to the trial of the killers by approving the indemnity ordinance passed in parliament which acted as Zia’s rubber stamp at that time when Zia himself made president of the country by brandishing arms.

Zia had introduced politics of killings for eliminating the political opponents. He had provided arms to the young students of the educational institutions including the Dhaka University to kill the opponent student leaders.

The armed hoodlums of BNP under General Ziaur Rahman had abducted a lot of students and activists of Bangladesh Awami League throughout the country during his rule. Not only that, Zia had killed hundreds of army officers, who fought in the country’s Liberation War, in a sponsored coup in army by Zia himself.  Zia launched almost a wholesale killing of freedom fighters in army and almost all of them were exterminated.

General Zia had deliberately destroyed the Sovereignty of Parliament, Independence of Judiciary and had very bad precedence of making the administration corrupt. And thus corruption was rooted deeply in the society. General Zia provided arms to the student groups loyal to him and quite a number of opponent student leaders and activists were abducted and killed during his military rule. Several brilliant students resorted to terror activities coming in contact with Zia when he was the illegal president of the country.

Khaleda, the widow of Gen Zia, is no different from her husband. She followed in the footsteps of Zia in the policy of suppression. During the misrule of khaleda from 2001 to 2006, people witnessed a countrywide reign of terror let lose by her. Thousands of people from the opposition political parties and from the minority groups were tortured and killed in broad day light at the hands of BNP armed cadres. Houses and property owned by the opposition party men were set on fire and looted by the BNP armed activists. In fact, khaleda Zia gave a free rein to loot and arson.

Wide-ranging criticism from across the world had made the Khaleda Zia government furious and she and her son Tarique Rahman were determined to uproot the officials not loyal to them. Former ESCAP boss  S A M S Kibr and former finance minister of the Sheikh Hasina government from 1996 to 2001, was brutally killed as it was known that the act of terror and brutality of BNP were globally circulated by  Kibria.

Quite a number of high officials, who didn’t abide by BNP illegal order, were put under suspension and sent on punishment transfer.

People remember at least 20 assassination attempts on the life of Sheikh Hasina by BNP terrors.Fortunately, she survived every attempt. Series of blasts during Khaleda’s regime plunged the country in panic.
