People now can buy milk, egg, meat cheap

The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock has taken initiative to sell milk, eggs and meat at affordable prices through mobile sales in the capital from today (Sunday) on the occasion of the month of Ramadan.

The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock along with traders, producers and all those involved in the supply chain is implementing this programme so that the general public can easily meet the demand for animal protein and nutrition during Ramadan, said a press release of the ministry on Saturday.

The initiative has been taken to increase the supply of beef, mutton, milk and eggs and to keep the prices stable and keep the supply chain active. The department is implementing this mobile marketing system.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim will inaugurate the programme at a function on the premises of the Department of Livestock Services in the capital today.

Mobile sales system will be available at 10 places in Dhaka for selling milk, eggs and meat at affordable prices. This programme will continue till 28th Ramadan.

Initially, the mobile sale will be available in Abdul Gani Road adjacent to the Secretariat, Khamarbari, Japan Garden City, Mirpur 60 Feet Road, Azimpur Maternity Hospital, Nayabazar of Old Dhaka, Arambagh, Notun Bazar, Kalshi of Mirpur and Jatrabari area.

Pasturized liquid milk will be sold at Tk 60 per liter, beef at Tk 550 per kg, mutton at Tk 800 per kg, dressed broiler at Tk 200 per kg and eggs will be sold at Tk 30 per four pieces at the mobile sales centres.

The Livestock and Dairy Development Project under the Department of Livestock Services is providing overall support in this regard. Bangladesh Dairy Farmers’ Association and Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council are also involved in the programme.
