Palm saplings distributed, planted in Pabna

More than 500 palm saplings were distributed and planted in Pabna to protect the environment and prevent lightning storm on Thursday.

At the initiative of Bangladesh Sugarcrop Research Institute (BSRI) in Ishwardi, these palm trees were planted on both sides of a dirt road on the banks of Padma River at Tarabaria village under Satbaria union in Pabna's Sujanagar upazila.

BSRI Director General Dr. Amjad Hossain presided over the programme while, MP from Pabna-2 constituency  Ahmed Firoz Kabir inaugurated it as the chief guest. BSRI Director (Research) Dr. Samjit Kumar Pal was the special guest.

Former UZ Vice Chairman Jalal Uddin, UP Chairman SM Samsul Alam, Joint General Secretary of Upazila Awami League Fakhrul Ahmed Babu and others were present there.
