Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said Bangladesh Military Academy has now become a modern international-standard academy. The reputation of the army that started in the hands of Bangabandhu has travelled beyond our borders. In exchange of the highest sacrifice, the independence and sovereignty of the country will be protected by our armed forces.

She said this while addressing a march past on the occasion of the commissioning of officer cadets of the Bangladesh Military Academy BMA 77th Long Term Course. The march past was held on Sunday in Chittagong Bhatiari. She also said that you have to remember that you are the children of this country, an integral part of the people. So your common goal should be to be equal partners in happiness and sadness and laughter.

You should serve your country with proper leadership, holistic direction, professionalism, patriotism and sincerity. In addition to establishing Bangladesh as the most prosperous country in South Asia, the government is working to make Bangladesh a poverty and hunger free country. The Prime Minister said Bangladesh is now a role model for many countries.

This time, Battalion Senior Under Officer Sabir Nawaz Shaon has been awarded the 'Army Chief' Gold Medal for excellence in military affairs, with Sword of Honor and Company Senior Under Officer Md. Barkat Hossain as the best cadet. When the Prime Minister arrived at the BMA Parade Ground in the afternoon, Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed welcomed the Prime Minister. Later, the Prime Minister distributed the prize to the cadets after inspecting the march past and receiving greetings at the parade ground.

This year, a total of 265 cadets including 234 Bangladeshi, 29 Saudi, one Palestinian and Sri Lankan cadet have received commissions. Of the Bangladeshi cadets, 207 are male and 27 are female officers.
