A day-long ‘Nuclear Fest and Research Fair’ organised by the Department of Nuclear Engineering of the University of Dhaka (DU) was held on Tuesday at the Gymnasium of the university.
Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman inaugurated the function as the chief guest.
Chairperson of the Department of Nuclear Engineering Dr. Afroza Shelley presided over the inaugural session while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Samad, Chairman of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission Prof. Dr. Ashok Kumar Paul and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering andTechnology Prof. Dr. Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu addressed the function as special guests.
In his speech, DU Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman stressed the need for producing skilled human resources to develop nuclear industries in the country. He also emphasised on conducting collaborative research through interdisciplinary approach and strengthening collaboration between industry and academia to promote this sector.
The DU CV called upon the teachers, researchers and students to play an effective role to make ‘Smart Bangladesh’ through scientific research and innovation.
Poster presentation, research project showcasing, quiz competition and interactive game were arranged in day-long ‘Nuclear Fest and Research Fair’.
