Next poll as per Constitution: Roushan

Leader of the Opposition Roushan Ershad, also the chief patron of Jatiya Party, on Sunday said that the next 12th Parliament election must have to be held as per the constitution of the country and the Jatiya Party will take part in the election.

She also said that her party never did destructive politics and will not do so in the future. 

The opposition leader came up with this statement at a rally organised on the occasion of the party's 37th founding anniversary held in front of the central office of Jatiya Party in Kakrail of the capital on Sunday.

On the occasion of the party’s founding anniversary, Jatiya Party chairman GM Quader, among others, was also present on the stage. But did not spoke the rally due to a restriction on him by the court.

But both Roushan Ershad and Jatiya Party chairman GM Quader announced to remain united.

Roushan Ershad also exchanged words with the party leaders and activists present from the stage.

At the rally, Jatiya Party's secretary general Mujibul Haque Chunnu said that it is not possible to hold a free and fair election by any caretaker government.

Mujibul Haque said BNP has not been in power for 14 years, so they have gone mad for power. If not, it will become like the Muslim League. 

Jatiya Party Co-Chairman Anisul Islam Mahmud said that Jatiya Party will exist and will come to power one day. No one can harm this party. 

"We don't believe in fire-terror for democracy. We believe in democracy. We are in Parliament to speak for the people, to bring good governance to this country", he said.

On the occasion of the Jatiya Party’s founding anniversary, the party leaders and activists brought out a colorful procession in the capital. The procession, led by party co-chairman and president of Dhaka Metropolitan South Jatiya Party Syed Abu Hossain Babla, started from GPO intersection, passed through Purana Paltan intersection, Vijaynagar, Kakrail, Shilpakala Academy and ended in front of Revenue Bhavan.
