Newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Kumar Verma arrived in Dhaka on Thursday.

He will present his credentials to President Md Abdul Hamid soon.

“The date has not been finalized yet. But it’ll happen soon,” a foreign ministry official told Bangladesh Post.

Verma, a career diplomat of 1994 batch of Indian Foreign Service, was the Indian ambassador in Vietnam before succeeding Vikram Kumar Doraiswami in Dhaka.

Doraiswami has been transferred to the Indian mission in the UK as the High Commissioner.

Pranay Verma has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Before joining the Indian Foreign Service, he started his professional career at India's steel manufacturing company, Tata Steel.

He also holds a Master's degree in the Chinese language from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, California, US.

At foreign office, he served as the director-general of the East Asia Division at the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, among others.

He was also the director-general for external relations at the Department of Atomic Energy looking after India's nuclear diplomacy.
