Nepal Embassy unveils Visit Nepal 2020 campaign in BD

Embassy of Nepal in Bangladesh unveiled their Visit Nepal 2020 Campaign at a ceremony at the embassy in the city on Tuesday.

Md Nurul Islam Sujon, Railways Minister of Bangladesh attended the programme as the Chief Guest while Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal was present as a Special Guest. Banshidhar Mishra, Ambassador of Nepal to Bangladesh along with the Chief and Special Guest unveiled the campaign lighting the traditional oil lamps of Nepal.

Speaking on the occasion, Kedar Bahadur Adhikari, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation of Nepal, said, 'After the promulgation of the new constitution, Nepal has entered into a new era of peace and prosperity with sustainable development.'

As Nepal is laced with diverse culture, geography and scenic beauty, it is rightly known as the garden of the world where tourism remains one of the major attractions for visitors around the globe, he added. During the ceremony, the embassy organised a photo exhibition which presented the beautiful attractions of Nepal. As part of showcasing other attractions of the country, delectable Nepali culinary items and cultural performances were presented at the programme to delight the guests.

The embassy also launched a tourism blog as a platform for travellers visiting Nepal to share their stories and experiences with the world. The campaign aims to further strengthen the relationship between Nepal and Bangladesh on people-to-people level.

The event also witnessed the embassy formally appointing and honouring three renowned media personalities of Bangladesh – Mount Everest summiteer MA Mohit, singer Mehreen Bhuiyan and actor Zahid Hassan as the campaign's Goodwill Ambassadors.

Similar prgrammes are to take place in other cities of Bangladesh such as Chattogram, Sylhet, Cox's Bazaar etc where the Goodwill Ambassadors will share their experiences of visiting Nepal and uphold the country's beauty to the locals here. At the unveiling ceremony, the embassy hosted guests from different sectors of the country including senior government officials, tourism stakeholders, corporates, journalists and diplomats.

On January 1, President of Nepal inaugurated 'Visit Nepal 2020' through a grand ceremony held at the Dashrath Stadium, Kathmandu, Nepal. The country launched the national campaign aiming to welcome 2 million tourists in the year 2020. Nepal is an all-season destination offering various avenues for adventure tourism, cultural and spiritual experiences and MICE tourism. The country has also been putting huge investment in infrastructure development including in hospitality sector, transport and airport facilities, which will be instrumental to enhance the tourism sector further.
