A councilor of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) was arrested by detective branch (DB) of police on Thursday on extortion charge after a case was filed against him.
NCC councilor Abdul Karim Babu, who is also a cable operating (Dish) trader, was arrested by the DB police from his own residence at Paikpara of Narayanganj.

Inspector of DB police Enamul Haq said that the councilor of Ward No. 17 was arrested in an extortion case filed with Bandar Police Station. One Mohammad Hasan had filed the case accusing that Abdul Karim Babu alias Dish Babu had demanded ten lakh taka as extortion from him, cutting all cable lines of Mohammad Hasan at FaraziKanda area of Bandar upazila.
On March 23, Mohammad Hasan filed the extortion case, said OC of Bandar Police Station Rafikul Islam.
