Roads renamed in DNCC area

The road from Parliament Building Avenue Khejur Bagan (Islamia Eye Hospital) to Bijay Sarani (Airplane Intersection) was unanimously renamed as "Shaheed Colonel Khandaker Nazmul Huda Bir Bikram Road".

Also, the No 6 road of Ward No 23 Khilgaon Chowdhurypara (from Holding No 1321 to 1366 via Holding No 1280) was renamed as "Muktijoddha o Ganashangit Shilpi Fakir Alamgir Road" and the redefined draft rates chart for Gulshan-Banani and Baridhara areas have been approved. The decisions were carried out by the Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Md. Atiqul Islam on Sunday in the 8th corporation meeting of the 2nd council held at Nagar Bhaban in Gulshan.

In the meeting the mayor said “With the joint efforts of all, a healthy, vibrant and modern Dhaka must be built by freeing Dhaka from the clutches of the evildoers.”

While speaking as the chief guest at the Integrity Award Ceremony after the meeting, he said initiatives such as the Integrity Award will encourage officers and employees to practice Integrity as well as increase their work ethic.

The DNCC mayor said the government under PM Sheikh Hasina formulated the National Integrity Strategy Paper in 2012 and the Integrity Award in 2017 in hope of building the ‘Shonar Bangla’, dream of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and encouraging government officials and employees to practice integrity.

After detailed review and verification, 5 officers and one councilor of DNCC were nominated for the Integrity Award 2020-2021.

On behalf of all, the mayor was thanked for his tireless work for the welfare of the people of the city even during the pandemic.

The meeting was attended by DNCC Chief Executive Officer Md Selim Reza among others and all senior officers and councilors.
