Naimuzzaman Bhuiyan Mukta party nomination for Panchagarh-1 constituency to contest in the 2024 parliamentary polls schedule to be held on January 7.
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the name of Naimuzzaman Mukta, who is also the vice-president of Panchagarh district Awami League.
Panchagarh-1 constituency consists of Panchagarh Sadar, Atwari and Tentulia Upazila.
Apart from active politics, Naimuzzaman Mukta is also working as the Joint Editor of Bangladesh Post, an English daily owned by Sikder Group, one of the country's top industrial conglomerate.
A brilliant former student leader Naiuzzaman Mukta is known as an expert in Access to Information (A2I) project and is very close to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
As an independent director of the country's first private bank, National Bank, Naimuzzaman Mukta is leaving a mark of his talent in the banking sector.
His parents are, father - Abdul Khalek Bhuiyan and mother - Nurjahan Bhuiyan.
His father-in-law Kazi Mahbub is a valiant freedom fighter and mother-in-law, Farida Akhtar Hira worked with high reputation as a parliamentarian in reserved seat.
Naimuzzaman Mukta's wife,Kazi Mousumee, is active in Awami League politics after retiring as a senior officer from Bangladesh Army. She was also an executive committee member of Retired Armed Forces Officers Welfare Association Club (RAOWA Club).
Apart from politics, Kazi Mousumee has been busy with socio-economic development works in Panchagarh district for a long time.
Meanwhile, leaders, activists and supporters and Awami League leaders took out a huge cheery procession from the local party office immediately after the announcement of the party nomination in favour of Naimuzzaman Mukta.
The jubilant supporters distributed sweets after announcement of the nomination news. Similar cheerful procession was held in Tentulia and Atwari upazilas where thousands of people came out to celebrate Naimuzzaman Mukta’s nomination. A large number of Naimuzzaman Mukta's supporters and local Awami League leaders and activists were present in these cheery processions. Members of public also joined the processions while greeting Naimuzzaman Mukta with various slogans.
President of Sadar Upazila Jubo League,Hasnat Mohammad Hamidur Rahman, in a triumphant mood said, “Today is a historic day for the people of Panchagarh 1 Constituency. We are delighted to hearing such a news.”
“Our supreme leader Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has chosen the most worthy leader for us,” he added.
