Nagad, a mobile financial service of the Bangladesh Postal Department, has completed its most successful year yet in government fund disbursements.
In the just-concluded fiscal year 2024-25, the mobile money operator efficiently disbursed BDT 9,000 crore in education stipends, social safety net allowances, and other subsidies — with complete transparency and accountability.
Among the disbursed funds, the largest allocations went toward stipends for primary-level students, education assistance trust stipends, and social safety net programs.
Additionally, Nagad facilitated payments for several other sectors, including daily wages under the Ministry of Disaster Management and the Forest Department.
In total, around 2.25 crore beneficiaries received government aid amounting to BDT 9,000 crore through Nagad.
In the last fiscal year, stipends to the tune of BDT 3,000 crore were distributed to nearly 1.5 crore students across various levels of education.
This included 90 lakh primary students and 54 lakh students from secondary to undergraduate levels. Depending on the grade level, each student received monthly stipends ranging from BDT 75 to BDT 200.
