Nagad brings financial inclusion to 60 lakh people in one day

The Bangladesh Post Office tirelessly working to bring citizens of the country under the financial inclusion net. Digital financial service Nagad is a product of these ongoing efforts of the Bangladesh Post Office. With the aim of bringing regular citizens into the financial inclusion net, Nagad and state-owned mobile operator Teletalk have written a unique chapter in Bangladesh’s history. In a combined effort, Nagad and Teletalk have brought 6o lakh people into the financial inclusion net within a span of just one day. This is not just a milestone for Bangladesh, but also a new world record.

Earlier this year on the Independence Day (March 26), the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had inaugurated theNagad service. From now on, all Teletalk subscribers will be able to avail services of Nagad, by simply setting a PIN number for their respective accounts. On this occasion, Minister of Posts and TelecommunicationsMustafa Jabbar on Wednesday said: “The digital financial service Nagad is a product of the government’s vision to create aDigital Bangladesh. 

Under the wise direction and guidance of our Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Nagad will go much further—the result of which the country’s population has already started experiencing.” “It is now time to move forward and bring the marginalized people under the purview of this service,” he added.

Among others, Posts and Telecommunications Secretary Ashok Kumar Biswas, Director General of Bangladesh Post Office SudhangshuShekharBhadra, Teletalk Bangladesh Limited Managing Director Md. Shahab Uddin, and other senior officials of the Posts and Telecommunications Division, were also present at the event.
