The Munshiganj District Contractors' Association held a press conference on the sudden rise in prices of rubber, cement, stone and bituminous and other commodities. The press conference was held on the second floor of Muktijoddha Sangsad Bhaban around 12 noon on Monday.
Munshiganj District Contractors Association vice-president Abul Kalam Azad, Jalal Uddin Rumi Rajan, general secretary Mizanur Rahman Nasir, members Aynal Haque Swapan, Abdullah Al Mamun, Pavel and others were present at the time.
In a written statement at the press conference, He said that our Munshiganj district contractors are proud partners in all the development activities of this district and this country. We play a vital role in the revenue collection of this district. Today our industry and the contractors involved in this industry are in danger. Today we are losing our way as the prices of rubber, cement, stone and bitumen and other products associated with our industry skyrocket. We have invested a lot of money in all the development activities in our district.
In this situation, we, the contractors, are sitting on the road. In the event of Kovid-19 epidemic, all the businessmen of our country have got the help of Hon'ble Prime Minister except the contractors of this industry. Today, the rising prices of all related materials in this industry, including rubber, cement, stone and bitumen, are another epidemic for us. We, the contractors of Munshiganj district, have come together and we believe that the Hon'ble Prime Minister should look into this matter and help us to take this industry forward. They also said that if the price of these items goes up after the budget of a project is passed, then we are in extreme danger.
