Necessary action will be taken according to law if BNP hold rally in front of its Nayapaltan central office. Besides, the law enforcing agencies will also look into the reasons behind BNP’s desire to hold the rally in Nayapaltan.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan said this in response to questions from reporters after a programme at Awlad Hossain Market in Tejgaon in the capital on Wednesday.

The Home boss said, “BNP should hold meetings in accordance with the prevailing rules of the country. Gathering of 20 to 25 lakh people is not possible in Dhaka. Suhrawardy Udyan is allocated for large gatherings of all parties. Why they will change the gathering of 25 lakh people is our concern now. Why do they want to do it there? That’s needed to be looked into.”

“They are declaring that they will rule the state in the future from sitting there (Paltan). If they really want to do something like that the government will take action according to law,” the minister added.

Besides, the law and order forces will also look into the reason why BNP wanted to hold rally in Paltan.

The government is not creating any hindrance to holding the BNP rally. But they have to do everything according to the rules of the country.

The minister also said that the government will do whatever it needs to establish rule of law and protect people’s lives from the BNP rally on December 10.

In response to another question, he said that the human rights situation in Bangladesh is better than any other country of the world. The government does not want the country’s human rights to be undermined.

Earlier, the home minister as the chief guest inaugurated a new branch of Union Bank at Bijoy Sharoni. President of Tejgaon Awami League Professor Abdur Rashid, Union Bank’s Additional Managing Director Md Habibur Rahman, among others, were present during the inauguration.
