Ministry of Women And Children Affairs is providing all supports including security to the violated female student of Dhaka University. Earlier on Sunday night a female student of Dhaka University had been picked up by an unidentified man after she got down from the university bus around 7pm and was raped at Kurmitola in the city.

The Women and Children Affairs ministry today strongly condemned the rape of a Dhaka University (DU) student in city’s Kurmitola area on Sunday. “Persons involved with the crime must face the highest punishment through fair investigation,” an official release of the ministry said today. Such incident is very unacceptable when the government is working relentlessly for the development, empowerment, safety and employment of the women, it said.
The student is undergoing treatment in Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) One Stop Crisis Centre.

The ministry is providing all out-support including security, treatment and legal aid. The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs is cooperating on the safety, medical and legal support of the girl, who was raped in Dhaka's Kurmitola. "The victim is currently undergoing treatment at the One Stop Crisis Center established by the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs at Dhaka Medical College Hospital."

All assistance on its security, medical and legal assistance is being provided from this ministry, the statement said. According to the statement, those involved in the incident should be arrested immediately and a fair investigation would be ensured through proper investigation. On Sunday (Jan 5), the student was followed by an unknown person after getting down at Kurmitola bus stand. Doctors have found evidence of rape after a forensic test of the victim.

Her classmate said that that she was picked up midway around 7 to 8 pm, taken to a nearby quiet place, and raped. She regained consciousness around 10 pm after which she went to her friend's house from where she was admitted to DMCH around midnight.
