Minister seeks investment in agri sector

Bangladesh has huge potential for investment in agriculture. Foreigners and expatriate Bangladeshis have scope to invest in agricultural processing, value addition and export. Bangladesh has a favorable investment climate and the government will provide all kinds of assistance.

Agriculture Minister and Awami League presidium member Md. Abdur Razzque said this while speaking as the chief guest at a seminar on agricultural development, export and investment prospects at the Bangladesh Pavilion at the World Expo in Dubai on Tuesday.

The seminar was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Food and Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock on the occasion of Food, Agriculture and Livelihoods Week at Dubai World Expo. Dr. Razzque said, “Today Bangladesh has surplus of many crops. There is a lot of potential for export of various agricultural products including vegetables, fruits and fish. Agricultural products are being exported to different countries of the world. We want to enter the main market. Therefore, many initiatives have been taken including production of safe agricultural products, setting up of accredited labs and issuance of certificates. Come forward to export agricultural products from Bangladesh. The Government of Bangladesh will provide all assistance.” Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Md. Sayedul Islam and Food Secretary Dr. Mosammat Nazmanara Khanum spoke as special guests. 

Presided over Ambassador of Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates Muhammad Abu Zafar. Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Md. Ruhul Amin Talukder host the seminar. Consul General of Dubai,BM Jamal Hossaingave welcome speech.

Business representatives from different countries including India, Pakistan and Bangladesh were present there.
