Mercantile Bank Limited awarded the ‘Mercantile Bank Sommanona-2019’ to four eminent personalities and one institutions for their outstanding contributions to the society.
Fazle Kabir, governor of Bangladesh Bank, as the chief guest handed over the gold medals, crests, and cheques of Tk 3 lakh to each of the awardees at a ceremony at IntercontinentalDhaka on Tuesday, said a press release.
Bank’s Chairman A.K.M. Shaheed Reza presided over the ceremony while Managing Director & CEO Md. Quamrul Islam Chowdhury delivered welcome speech.
In his speech, Fazle Kabir said that Mercantile Bank, along with banking business, has made praiseworthy contribution as parts of its social responsibility.
Awardees of the Mercantile Bank Sommanona-2019 include Dr. Tofael Ahmed for education, Captain Shahabuddin Ahmed, Bir Uttam for freedom fighter & liberation war based research, Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute, Mymensingh for economics & economics based research, Abul Kashem (Abul Khair Group) for commerce and industry and Mosharraf Hossain Khan in sports for swimming.
MBL Young Bankers’ Appreciation Award-2019 recipients are Uzzwal Kumar Singha, AVP, IFIC Bank Ltd, Sirajul Islam, AVP, AB Bank Ltd, A.K.M. Hossainuzzaman, FAVP, Mercantile Bank Ltd, Tawhid Khan Majlish, FAVP, Mutual Trust Bank Ltd and Mohammad Arafat Hossain, FAVP, Bank Asia Limited.
