Media urged to portrait BD positively attracting tourists

State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Mahbub Ali urged the journalists to portrait Bangladesh image positively so that the country can get more tourists especially from abroad.

The state minister made the remarks while awarding “Tourism Media Fellowship-2019” to 10 journalists from three national newspapers, five television channels and two online newspapers at Jatiya Press Club in the capital on Wednesday.

Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) and Aviation and Tourism Journalists’ Forum of Bangladesh (ATJFB) jointly arranged the fellowship programme aiming at encouraging policymakers and stakeholders, through objective news reporting, to take proper steps for further flourishing tourism sector.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary M Mohibul Haque spoke as special guest while BTB Chief Executive Officer Dr Bhubon Chandra Biswas as the guest of honor. The Bangladesh Monitor Editor Kazi Wahidul Alam, Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB) first vice-president Md Rafeuzzaman,

Association of Travel Agents of Bangladesh (ATAB) Abdus Salam Aref, ATJFB President Nadira Kiran and its General Secretary Tanzim Anwar also spoke, among others, at the programme.

Currently, the state minister said Bangladesh is advancing on highway of prosperity under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and many positive and constructive developments are going on in different sectors. “The current law and order situation is better than any time,” he added.

Mahbub said tourism and foreign affairs ministries are working together to convince those countries, who issued travel alerts after the tragic incident of Holy Artisan, to lift the advisories for their citizens regarding visit Bangladesh.

Secretary M Mohibul Haque said the government has taken initiative to make a ‘Tourism Master Plan’ for further development of the sector in a plan and efficient way. “We are going to give work order to a reputed company for making the plan within October 7 next,” he added. He also said the government is working on formulating acts for tour operators and guides to ensure proper tourism services for both domestic and international tourists.
