Matlub Ahmad elected IBBC president

Nitol Motors Ltd Chairman Abdul Matlub Ahmad has been elected president of India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI) for 2021-2023 period.

Election to the 24-member board of directors of the bi-national trade body was held recently in which HSTC Ltd Chief Executive Officer Republic of Malta Honorary Consul M Shoeb Chowdhury and Indofil Bangladesh Industries Private Ltd Managing Director Abhisek Das were elected vice-presidents, says a press release.

State Bank of India Country Head Dr Prakash Chand Saboo was elected honorary secretary general, Quality Enterprise Managing Director Md Abdul Wahed honorary joint secretary general, and Bangladesh System Technology Ltd Chairman and Managing Director Dewan Sultan Ahmed honorary treasurer.

Other members of the newly elected board of directors are Mohammad Ali of Fatullah Steel Re-Rolling Mills, Venugopal Numbikkeril Chellappan Pillai of Ceat Akkhan Ltd, Md Bazlur Rahman of BR Spinning Mills Ltd, Farkhunda Jabeen Khan of MAKS Attire, Ashish Goupal of Marico Bangladesh Ltd, Madhu P Singh of Tata Motors Ltd, Motiar Rahman of Sharothi Enterprise, Liakat Ali Bhuiyan of Brick Works Development Ltd, Ritesh Doshi of Asian Paints Ltd, Md Moshiur Rahman of Rahman Shipping Lines, Robin Kumar Das of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, Srikanth Iyer of The Himalaya Drug Company Ltd, Md Julfikar Sheikh of Ion Exchange Environment Management (BD) Ltd, Nagendra Dwivedi of HMCL Niloy Bangladesh Ltd, Eyaqub Sharafati of Air Touch Ltd, Ajit Kumar of Agion Laboratories Pvt Ltd, Sanjay Basu of SUN Pharmaceuticals (Bangladesh) Ltd, and  SK Mahfuz Hamid of Gulf Orient Seaways.

The election process was completed on Sunday. It was conducted by the IBCCI Election Board comprising Md Shamsul Alam (Chairman), Bijoy Kumar Kejriwal (Member) and Md Kohinoor Islam (Member).
