Mahathir to join Bangabandhu’s birth centenary

Malaysian Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohamad is expected to visit Bangladesh to attend the birth centenary celebration of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

He is likely to visit Dhaka at the end of this year or at the beginning of the next year to join the occasion.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen disclosed  the information emerging out of a meeting with his Malaysian counterpart SaifuddinAbdullah, on Sunday evening.

Dr. Momen said, “Bangladesh has invited him on the occasion of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu.”

Momen further said he is quite an elderly person; nevertheless, we want our genuine friend to come to our country on the birth centenary ceremony of Bangabandhu.

Mahathir studied medical science from University of Malaya. Later, he worked as a doctor for seven years at his birthplace in Malaysian state of Kedha. Mahathir gradually acquired popularity in the name of ‘Doctor M’.
