Lowest Covid deaths in 3 months

Bangladesh registered 38 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Friday, taking the total number of deaths to 26,832. This is the lowest figure of daily deaths in last three months.

The country recorded 2,325 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,527,215, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday.

The death rate now stands at 1.76 percent in the country, added the release.

The current positivity rate dropped to 8.65 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.60 percent.

Among the 38 deceased, 20 were men and 18 were women. Among the deaths reported, 17 died in Dhaka division, 10 in Chattogram, five in Khulna, two each in Rajshahi and Mymensingh, and one each died in Rangpur and Sylhet divisions. 

A total of 27,233 samples were tested across the country till 8am Friday.

At least 3,856 Covid-19 patients recovered during this time. The total number of recoveries reached 1,472,067 and the recovery rate is 96.39 percent. 

As of Friday, 4,623,479 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 224,163,986 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
