Three lawyers of the Supreme Court have served legal notice on the government on Thursday demanding removal of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam within 24 hours as his name came up in the probe in the 2009 BDR carnage.
Unless the government meets the deadline, legal actions will be taken, warned Md Abdus Samad, Md Shahin Hossain, and Md Atiqur Rahman in the legal notice.
Chief Secretary at the Chief Adviser’s Office, Home Affairs Ministry’s Senior Secretary, Public Administration Ministry’s Senior Secretary, and Law Ministry’s Secretary have been addressed in the legal notice.
Earlier on Sunday, the National Independent Inquiry Commission on the BDR carnage submitted its report to Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus.
In the report, the commission has accused a number of officials from the then Awami League government, the ruling party’s members and foreign forces for masterminding the killing of senior army officials at Pilkhana on 25-26 February 2009.
