Land ports management needs further improvement to boost foreign trade

Speakers at a public consultation meeting stressed further development of management system of land ports of the country in a bid to enhance foreign trade 

Shipping Secretary, Md. Mostafa Kamal attended the meeting as chief guest with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BFTI, Dr. Md. Zafar Uddin in the chair. 

The public consultation based on a research activity titled “A compiled policy and regulatory guidelines/standard operating procedures (SOP) for Cross Border Land Port Management with respect to international trade and transport formalities, procedures, documentation and related matters”, ran by Bangladesh Foreign Trade Institute (BFTI) was held on Tuesday at BFTI office in the capital. 

BFTI completed the research with the initiative of Bangladesh Regional Connectivity Project-1 under the ministry of Commerce.

Chiarman of Bangladesh Land Port Authority, Md. Alamgir, Director of the Project Md. Mijanur Rahman, President of Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI), Anwarul Alam Chowdhury Parvej were present on the occasion as special guests.

BFTI Director Obaidul Azam moderated the consultation meeting while representatives from different private and public sector organisations were also present among others.
