Bangladesh is a small country. Still it has many wonders which are yet to be discovered and explored. Lalakhal in Sylhet is such a place. It is very uncommon tourist spot for our country. Many Bangladeshis visit Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and Maldives for enjoying natural beauty and spending vacations.

Experts in tourist industry believe Lalakhal can be a very potential tourist spot for local and international tourists if all essential amenities and supports are available. In fact middle class and upper class people are very fond of recreation. But most of the times everyone chooses to visit tourist spot like Marina Bay of Singapore, Langkawi of Malaysia and Bali beach of Indonesia.

However, it's very much expensive to visit these types of country. Besides, visa complicacy, currency conversion, air ticket and broker harassment etc. always make a burden for Bangladesh tourists. But the fact if someone thinks about a quiet and silent place, he or she must have to visit Lalakhal. Lalakhal is one of such most beautiful canals in Bangladesh considering fascinating natural beauty and picturesque. The view sight of Lalakhal is beyond speechless.

The blue water of this canal can't be explained in an article. Though the name of this canal is Lala khal, but according to the locals, there is no significant sign or history behind this name. The beauty of the foot of the hill and crystal blue water is fabulous. There is no alternative to enjoy the mesmerizing view of Lalakhal without a boat journey.

One can enjoy all the view and fascinating scenario by renting a boat. In fact, reserving a boat will be a tremendous way to experience this natural beauty. It will take Tk400 to Tk500 to reserve an engine boat. But make sure that you are a good bargainer.

In fact, boatman will demand at least Tk1000 or more for this service. However, one can enjoy this beauty eagerly if he or she visits along with a group or a friend circle. It is because everyone can enjoy the silent beauty as well as cheer up there. Needless to mention your engine boat will take you to Zero point where is the Indian border visible.

Anyway, 30 minutes will take to ply on the whole canal by engine boat and obviously feel the calm and quiet environment of the Lalakhal. You will see few houses beside the bank of this canal. But you will find out various types of tress there. And of course you will find vast tea garden besides this canal.

It seems blue beauty covered by green garden. Sometimes you will see long green grass. And you will find several turns of this canal and every turn has a charming view. You will be pleased when the boat will move across this turn, because your body will move at a time. You will see beautiful hills from this canal.  It feels that you might have entered into these hills. But the reality is they are far away from your view site.

The clouds gather on these hills. The magnifying view let you know clouds are leaning against the hill. Rainfall will be gradually increasing if clouds gathered too much. In fact, Sylhet has the highest rate of rainfall in Bangladesh. The sunset view of Lalakhal will make you speechless.

The burning sun is grasped by the blue water of Lalakhal at twilight. This charming view brings a sense of joy inside any ages of people. The twilight view at Lalakhal can't be written without experiencing that scenario.

Actually it can only be felt by your heart. All these features of an ideal place of tourism can make Lalakhal a most attractive tourist spot for exciting tourists. It can be a unique place for all ages of tourists. Our government can save huge remittance by developing this silent beauty. In fact, so far no initiative has been taken by the government or tourism board to develop Lalakhal as a tourist spot.

However, there is no place at Lalakhal where tourists can stay. And this spot is 30 km away from the Sylhet metropolitan city. Tourists have to find a hotel in Sylhet city and then move to enjoy the Lalakhal's beauty. Besides, transportation facilities are not adequate to reach the place. No significant communication system has yet established to travel this place from Sylhet. After twilight there is no boat available here.

It sounds scary and this situation makes the tourist very frustrated. After viewing this silent beauty everyone wants to stay or hold for a night. "Government should come forward to enhance facilities for this beautiful place," said tourist who visited Lalakhal.

 How to go

Basically Lalakhal is located at Jaintiapur in Sylhet. At Jaintiapur there is a river named 'Sari'. The Sarighat is the main place where you have to go from Sylhet metropolitan city. Sarighat is the middle point of Sylhet and Jaflong. You have to catch a CNG auto rickshaw, Leguna or Jaflong's bus to reach Sarighat. Lalakhal is very much close to Sarighat. By 8 pm, vehicles are available. But the fact is you have to stay at Sylhet city.
