The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), in collaboration with the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), successfully hosted the Dissemination Ceremony of the Master Plan for the Integrated Data Warehouse (IDW) under the project “Capacity Development of Statistics Service Based on Platform (2023–2026, USD 9.65 million)”.
The event marked a significant milestone in Bangladesh’s efforts to modernize its national statistical system and strengthen data-driven governance.
The Master Plan provides a comprehensive roadmap for establishing a centralized, secure, and interoperable statistical data platform, enabling improved data integration, analysis, and dissemination across government institutions.
The ceremony was attended by Jihoon Kim, Country Director of KOICA Bangladesh, the Deputy Chief of Mission from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, along with the Secretary of the Statistics and Informatics Division (SID) and the Director General of BBS, who delivered keynote remarks highlighting the importance of the initiative.
In his remarks, Jihoon Kim stated: “The Integrated Data Warehouse Master Plan represents a transformative step toward strengthening Bangladesh’s statistical system. KOICA is proud to support BBS in building a modern, reliable, and technology-driven data platform that will enable evidence-based policymaking. We remain committed to ensuring the successful implementation and long-term sustainability of this initiative.”
The Director General of BBS noted: “This Master Plan lays the foundation for a unified and efficient national data system. With KOICA’s continued support, BBS will further enhance the quality, accessibility, and reliability of official statistics, which are essential for informed decision-making and development planning.”
The Integrated Data Warehouse initiative is expected to strengthen data governance, interoperability, and institutional capacity, supporting more effective public administration and policy development.
The ceremony also provided a platform for stakeholders to exchange views and reaffirm their commitment to collaborative implementation of the Master Plan.
