Kites colour Cox’s Bazar sky!

Colorful kites surfed through the sky with great enthusiasm and excitement in the annual kite festival organized on Monday at Laboni Point in Cox's Bazar sea beach to mark the Mujib Year with the slogan "Keep Cox's Bazar Beach Clean".  

Mohammad Mohiuddin Ahmed, Additional Superintendent of Police, Tourist Police, Cox's Bazar Zone was present as the chief guest at the festival.

Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd. and Bangladesh Tourism Corporation co-hosted the event courtesy of Nitol-Tata. Kites from different countries including China, India, Thailand, Japan, Singapore and host Bangladesh are flown in the sky of Cox's Bazar beach. Kites in forms of tigers, pythons, sharks, dolphins, birds, Kalapahar, Chumukhidar, Chokhdar, Pandar etc. were seen in the festival.

Md. Shukur Salek, President of Dhaka Residents and President of Bangladesh Dragon Federation said, “The people of Dhaka and Bangladesh Ghuri Federation have been celebrating kite festival since 1990. 

In Dhaka, Dhakaites organise the Shakrain Festival, Chaitra Sankranti Festival and Baishakhi Kite Festival and Asian Kite Festival. 

Cox's Bazar has been holding regular kite festivals on the beach, which is contributing to the development of the tourism industry. There is a kite museum in Dhaka in collaboration with the Bangladesh Ghuri Federation. Every Friday students get a chance to see kites in this museum. Other activities of the day included kite exhibition, kite rally, kite making and distribution of free max among tourists visiting Cox's Bazar. The program was inaugurated by Inam Ahmed Chowdhury, a member of the Advisory Council of Bangladesh Awami League.

Among others, Shahin Parveen, Secretary, Bangladesh National Youth Organization Federation, Shakib Salek, International Secretary, Dhaka, Rashed Mahmud, Organizing Secretary, Khorshed Alam, Life Member, M Rezaul Karim Ranju, President, Human Welfare and Social Development Organization, Sirajganj were present on the occasion.
