Khaleda Zia tests Covid positive

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir informed that BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has tested Covid positive. He made the remarks at an emergency press conference at the chairperson's Gulshan office on Sunday.

Samples were taken the day before that reported her corona positive the following day.

Fakhrul has called upon the people to pray for her recovery. He said that there will be a call to the leaders and workers of the party to ask for blessings from the almighty for Khaleda Zia's recovery.

He further said, “She is completely stable. Treatment has already started. She is under the care of private doctors.”

At the press conference, Fakhrul said, “Samples were allowed to be tested at ICDDR, B and the results came positive. In the latest situation, treatment has been started under the supervision of specialist doctors. She is stable. There are no other symptoms. The next decision will be taken according to the decision of the doctors.”

On February 8, 2016, Khaleda Zia was sentenced to five years in prison in Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case. She was released on March 25, 2020 by an executive order for six months. Later, in September of that year, the government extended her release by another six months. In March this year, the six-month term was extended for the third time.
