The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Railways has recommended that the ministry impose fines and take legal action against Shohoz.com, an online ticketing platform, for various irregularities.
The recommendation was made at a meeting held at Sangsad Bhaban recently with committee’s chairman ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury in the chair.
The committee recommended taking legal action against Shohoz for breach of an agreement signed with Bangladesh Railway, which has caused various irregularities in railway ticket sales apart from frequent system collapses, overbooking, and customer complaints about unsuccessful transactions and unresponsive customer service.
In the fourth meeting of the 12th standing committee on Ministry of Railways has also decided to suspend BR’s Additional Director General of Partha Sarkar from his current job. Committee members
Mohammad Zillul Hakim, Shafiqul Islam Shimul, Shamim Osman, Iftikhar Uddin Talukder Pintu, Muhammad Saiful Islam, Mohammad Shafiqul Rahman, and Mosammat Nurun Nahar Begum attended the meeting.
Recently, some officials of Shohoz-Synesis-Vincen JV have been caught red-handed while selling train tickets on black market.
Widespread irregularities have dented the image of the railway. Even law enforcement agencies arrested several officials of Shohoz for ticket touting.
Despite frequent efforts over phone, chief operating officer of Shohoz Sandeep Debnath could not be reached for his comments in this regard.
