Authorities of Jagannath University (JnU) has suspended Abu Shahed Emon, a teacher of the Department of Film and Television and relieved Professor Junayed Ahmed Halim of his position of chairman of the same department for their alleged involvement in sexual harassment and death threat to a female student of the department.
The decisions were taken in the 94th syndicate meeting of Jagannath University on Tuesday. Kazi Farjana Mim, a student of the Film and Television department made the allegation against those two teachers.
JnU Registrar Professor Dr. Aynul Islam confirmed of the decision of
the syndicate meeting. “Abu Shahed Emon from the Film and Television Department has been temporarily suspended and the accused faculty member, Professor Junayed Ahmed Halim has been relieved of his position of chairman of the department.”
Earlier on Monday, Mim went to DB office and alleged about her horrifying experience of harassment and went to Bangabhaban on
Tuesday to submit an application where she sought justice from the President for sexual harassment and bullying.
