Jagannath University (JnU) student Kazi Farjana Mim, a victim of sexual harassment by a teacher, has filed a complaint to the Chancellor of the University and President of the state seeking justice.
She appealed for remedy of intimidations as death and expulsion from the university against her for accusing a teacher of her department of sexual harassment.
The student went to Bangabhaban to submit the application on Tuesday. Through the application, she sought justice from the President for the sexual harassment and bullying.
In the application, Mim wrote that she filed an application to the vice-chancellor of the university in December 2021 seeking justice for the bullying and sexual abuse that happened to her.
“I haven't got justice for this as yet, on the contrary, the teacher who sexually abused me, and the department chairman with his support, made me fail in multiple subjects in the honors exam.”
“The accused teachers have been
pressuring me with severe intimidations including expulsion, making me fail in exams, isolating me from other students and mentally torturing me and threatening me with death. (They are) driving me to suicide. As a result, I disclosed the matter to the media,” she said in the application.
“In this situation, I appeal to you as my last hope and belief. I urge upon you the exemplary prosecution of this bullying and sexual harassment, as well as accountability of the administration.
I earnestly request you to double check the exams in which they failed me and publish the results through the special committee appointed by you to help me regain my life.”
Mim came to the DB office last Monday (March 18) afternoon and accused Jagannath University film and television department teacher Abu Saheed Emon of sexual harassment. She also alleged that she had been receiving death threats in various ways. She also sought security of her life by going to DB.
