JMI Group celebrated World Peace Day 2026 with a colourful rally and discussion in Dhaka on Monday, calling for greater equality, justice, harmony and respect for human rights.
The company, a leading pharmaceutical and medical equipment manufacturer in Bangladesh, has been observing World Peace Day for the past 17 years.
JMI Group Founder and Managing Director Md Abdur Razzaq inaugurated the peace rally by releasing balloons and white doves, symbols of peace, in front of Curzon Hall of the University of Dhaka.
The rally started from Curzon Hall, passed through Doyel Chattar and ended at the Press Club intersection.
Later, JMI Group organised a discussion at the Abdus Salam Auditorium of the National Press Club. Speakers at the event stressed the importance of observing World Peace Day to raise public awareness and promote a peaceful and happy society irrespective of nationality, religion or race.
Addressing the discussion as chief guest, Md Abdur Razzaq said JMI Group had been observing World Peace Day in Bangladesh for 17 years and each year the organisation sought to stand beside oppressed people and work for peace and fundamental rights.
“Peace is not just a word; it is a way of life,” he said, adding that JMI Group had been committed to serving humanity since its inception.
He said the group now had more than 9,000 employees across 43 subsidiaries and that humanitarian values should be promoted in every sphere of work to help establish peace.
JMI Group Chairman Md Jabed Iqbal Pathan, who chaired the event, said peace was not meant for any particular group but was a right of all humanity.
“Peace does not simply mean the absence of war but the establishment of human rights and justice,” he said.
He also stressed the need for equality, justice and mutual respect, urging people to act responsibly towards one another through sacrifice and compassion.
Associate Professor of the University of Dhaka’s Department of Peace and Conflict Studies Dr Md Touhidul Islam attended the event as a special guest. JMI Group officials and journalists from different media outlets were also present.

Its joint venture with Japan’s NIPRO Corporation produces and markets life-saving medical equipment and medicines. The group also imports and markets LPG in Bangladesh.
