The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Bangladesh has presented nine women with the “Woman of Inspiration Award 2020” award, marking the International Women’s Day.
Gender equality is the theme of 2020 International Women’s Day to be celebrated Sunday in Bangladesh as elsewhere in the world. Based on the theme, JCI Bangladesh conceptualised the programme and recognised women’s’ achievement through providing women of inspiration award 2020.
This year, the awards recognized Bibi Russell, Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Humaira Azam, Kanak Chanpa Chakma, Mantasha Ahmed, Nadia Samdani, Rubaba Dowla, Sheepa Hafiza and Dr. Tanzima Hashem for their magnificent display of finesse and irrefutable success in their respective fields.
The categories of the awards were academia, technology, philanthropy, entrepreneurship, financial sector, art, culture and heritage, fashion and public sector, among others. Asaduzzaman Noor, MP graced the event on Friday night as chief guest. Sidsen Bleken, Norwegian Ambassador to Bangladesh was present as the guest of honor.
Sarah Kamal, 2020 National President of JCI Bangladesh, hosted the event. Ismat Jahan Lissa, National Secretary General, JCI Bangladesh was the convenor and Shaheen Ismail Mona, National director of JCI Bangladesh, was the co-convenor.
JCI is a nonprofit global organisation of young active citizens from age 18 to 40 who are engaged and committed to creating impact in their communities. Active citizens are individuals invested in the future of the world. JCI gathers active citizens from all sectors of society. JCI Bangladesh currently has 14 Local Chapters with around 1000 members.
