BNP rallies, which are being organised in the divisional level, are mainly the gathering of Jamaat, anti-liberation forces and fundamentalist groups, along with the BNP.
Although, BNP is claiming that they are organizing rallies at the divisional level gradually without the participation of their allies, but sources in the party and in the field level said that the rallies of the BNP have become the platforms of those who are the anti-Awami League. These anti-Awami Leaguers include Jamaat, anti-liberation forces and different fundamentalist groups.
It should be mentioned that BNP is organizing rallies at all the 10 divisions gradually to drum up supports in favour of its movement against the government demanding the resignation of Sheikh Hasina-led government and formation of a ‘Caretaker Government.”
The sources said it is true that BNP openly is not inviting Jamaat, fundamentalist parties and other anti-government sectors in the rallies, but there is some sort of consensus among them.
Besides, since the Election Commission cancelled the registration of Jamaat-e-Islam, the party having anti-liberation sentiment has no longer any right to continue political activities openly.
In this circumstance, Jamaat is now being merged with the BNP and other anti-government platforms to continue its anti-government activities.
Shafiqul Alam Mona, convener of Khulna Metropolitan unit of BNP, on October 21 expressed hope that leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami, a portion of Jatiya Party, and some other Islamic parties would be joining in the rally organised by BNP in Khulna division on October 22.
"Since the rally is organised by BNP, all the allies, including Jamaat, Jatiya Party and other Islamic groups are taking part as usually. There is no need for inviting them officially.
Sources said that a portion of leaders and activists of Jatiya Party led by GM Quader are also taking part at the BNP rallies. The GM Quader-led Jatiya Party is now trying to form a political unity with the BNP as his relations with the ruling Awami League had deteriorated due to some conflict with Roushan Ershad.
It should be mentioned that Roushan Ershad, the chief patron of Jatiya Party and also the wife of Jatiya Party founder late HM Ershad, is in favour of the Awami League, while Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader, also a younger brother of late Ershad, is now seems to be working against the ruling party.
