Ambassador of the Netherlands to Bangladesh Anne Van Leeuwen suggested to introduce modern technology in the Agriculture sector in Bangladesh to ensure more productivity and diversification.
Bangladesh can be benefitted by Dutch expertise on agricultural technical know-how and Dutch investors may come forward in the sustainable river dredging development and water infrastructure sector, said Dutch envoy.
Anne Van Leeuwen made the remarks while exchanging views with President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (DCCI) Rizwan Rahman as he paid a call on latter at his office on Wednesday.
He assured of working as a bridge between the businessmen of the Netherlands and Bangladesh to boost the bilateral trade.
"Bangladesh will need huge investment in near future for its Delta Plan. Netherlands is the 2nd largest agricultural products exporters in the world. Bangladesh is also an agricultural country and this country has a huge local market to utilize", he added.
DCCI President Rizwan Rahman said that the bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Netherlands is USD 1.23 billion where Bangladesh imported USD 138million and exported USD 1.09 billion.
He said that Netherlands is strong enough in agricultural sector and Bangladeshi entrepreneurs can get their technical know-how. Referring to the contribution of agriculture sector to the GDP (about 13%) he said, Netherlands can invest in Bangladesh.
He also informed that DCCI and Ministry of Commerce, GoB is going to organize a week-long virtual International Summit jointly tiled “Bangladesh Trade and Investment Summit” from 26th October, 2021 and urged the Netherlands investors &entrepreneurs to participate in the B2B match making sessions and the summit as well.
DCCI Senior Vice President NKA Mobin, FCS, FCA and Vice President Monowar Hossain were also present during the meeting.
