The Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordinating Committee, has recently revealed crucial information on the HSC and equivalent examinations for the year 2025.

In a notification, issued on Monday (December 18), it provides comprehensive details about the syllabus, time allocation, and marking scheme for the upcoming HSC and equivalent exams.

Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar, President of the Bangladesh Inter-Education Board Coordinating Committee and Chairman of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board, elucidated the examination specifics in the announcement.

As per the notification, the 2025 HSC and equivalent exams will adhere to the syllabus outlined by the National Curriculum and Textbook Board, Bangladesh.

The examinations, scheduled for 2025, will cover all subjects and will be conducted with the full duration and total marks allocated for each subject. This marks a return to the traditional examination format after the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in previous years.

Notably, while the SSC exam took place in 2020, the HSC exam was canceled that year due to the pandemic. Students in the HSC and equivalent categories were assessed based on subject mapping.

In 2021, SSC and HSC exams were grouped based on three optional subjects, with a reduction in exam time and marks to comply with hygiene regulations. The exams conducted in 2022 saw a slight increase in the syllabus, accompanied by a slightly shorter examination duration.

In the current academic year, SSC, HSC, and equivalent exams were administered based on a concise syllabus. However, with the exception of SSC ICT, these public exams were conducted with the full duration and marking for all subjects.

Looking ahead, the HSC and equivalent exams for June 2024 are slated to follow a revised syllabus, with examinations conducted with full marks in all subjects. The normal examination format, with full-time allocation and marks, will be reinstated for HSC and equivalent exams in the year 2025.
