The country was in the final stage of the glorious victory on this day in 1971.

Celebrations had been going on all over the places across the country and the Bengali people were eagerly waiting to hear the news of the victory of the freedom fighters

As the areas one after another were being freed from the occupation army, people started celebrating in their respective freed areas by hoisting Bangladesh national flags.

On this day in December 12 in 1971, Bengali people were getting news of victory of the valiant freedom fighters and the allied forces while defeating the occupation forces and their collaborators Al-Badr, Razakar, Al-Shams from everywhere in  the country.

On this day in 1971, Narsingdi, Gaibandha, Sarishabari of Jamalpur and Sreepur of Gazipur districts were liberated from the Pakistani occupation forces and their collaborators Al-Badr, Razakar, Al-Shams.

On this day in 1971, Al-Badr murdered journalist Nizam Uddin, general manager of API.

On the other hand, the valiant freedom fighters along with the allied forces continued fighting to liberate the rest of the Pakistani Army occupied areas in different areas of the country.

In the face of massive attack launched by the freedom fighters along with the allied forces  most of the Pakistani forces and their collaborators Al-Badr, Razakar, Al-Shams fled the battle grounds from most of the  areas of the country.

And after only four days on December 16 in 1971, Bangladesh was born as an independent country under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the cost of the supreme sacrifice of three million people and the honour of nearly half a million women.

On this day in December 12 in 1971, General Niazi from his safe cantonment residence said proudly that the Pakistan army would fight for every single inch of the land as long as a single troop lived.

Major General Rao Farman Ali called the leaders of Al-Badr and Al-Shams at the headquarters.

He chaired a meeting and chalked out the blueprint of intellectual killing. He made a list of some intellectuals and provided it to the collaborators.

Fleeing Pakistani troops from Jamalpur and Mymensingh joined their compatriots in Tangail  and made a strong resistance.

India dropped paratroopers at Mirzapur, Kaliyakoir and surrounding areas in Tangail. Kaderia Bahini led by Abdul Kader Siddiqui assisted them. And another ferocious battle also took place there.

Radio Peking in China broadcast that it was the USSR which wanted to attack China by unleashing India on Pakistan. It is the reason for the Soviet Union to support Bangladesh, it added.

On the other hand, Pakistan occupation forces continued killing the innocent Bengali people by unleashing ruthless atrocities in nearby torture camps and dump their bodies.

The Pakistan army caught innocent Bengali people, irrespective of caste, creed and religion, from different areas, and tortured them to death in the camps.

Later they dumped the bodies into different places or water bodies, turning them red due to dumping bleeding bodies of the martyred Bengalis, local freedom fighters.
