The commissioner made these remarks after visiting the Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital ahead of the 22nd national council of the ruling party there on Friday.

The DMP commissioner said,  “The 22nd national council of the Awami League is going to be held today ( Saturday) . AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will join the council. That's why we always consider her safety with highest priority and utmost importance.”

“Archway and CCTV cameras have been installed at each gate while our dog squad have been deployed to detect any threats,” he mentioned.

“We have taken all security measures so that the ruling party can complete the council in a festive atmosphere,” he continued.

Responding to a question on any potential security threats due  to the recent hijacking of two death row convicts militants and the current political situation, the DMP commissioner said, "I don't think there is any specific threat."

“We conducted a special operation against the militants. Several associates of the absconding  militants and several other groups have already been arrested. So, I hope there will be no threat from the militants,” he explained.

Asked about the rumors on social media, the DMP commissioner said, "We have cyber crime unit in DB and cyber unit in CTTC. Other organizations also have social media monitoring units. I hope that spreading rumors through social media will not create any unrest in the society.”
