The High Court has ordered submission of a report on the investigation into allegations of illegal wealth acquisition by a section of employees of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK).

The court asked the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and RAJUK to submit a report in this regard by April 5.

The HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Khizir Hayat issued the order on Tuesday (February 14). The HC order came after a news item was published in a national daily and the news item was brought to notice of the HC bench.

The HC bench, however, issued a ruling asking why the inaction of the defendants to take action in this regard will not be illegal. It has been asked to respond to the ruling within two weeks.

Deputy Attorney General AKM Amin Uddin was present in the hearing for the state in the court.

Earlier, a Bengali daily published a report on over millionaire employee of the RAJUK.

It was said in the report that some are high quality assistants, some are low quality assistants and some are bench assistants in the RAJUK. But they are similar in one place. Everyone is a millionaire.

Even though the third or fourth class employees of RAJUK are paid salary of between Tk 20,000 and 30,000 per month, many of them have one or more multi-storied houses and modern cars in the capital. Many have plots, flats, shops.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has a case against some employees of RAJUK for allegedly acquiring illegal wealth. But the pace of investigation is slow.

When the report came to the attention of the court, the High Court gave an order along with the rule in this regard.
