Gas Transmission Company Limited (GTCL) has taken an initiative to install gas pipeline from Bogura to Syedpur of Nilphamari district. Feasibility study is being conducted in this regard, sources said. Syedpur Upazila land office sources said some 42 acres of land would be needed to acquire in Syedpur Upazila area according to the survey of the GTCL. Formalities of the land acquisition process is also in progress.
Sources said Nilphamari district administration would start land acquisition when required directive would come from the authority concerned. Drawing of map has been completed.
Sources said the pipeline would comprise a distance of 150 kilometres beginning from Bogura and six kilometres would be within Syedpur Upazila area.
GTCL sources said the pipeline would be of 30-inch diameter and beneath 24 feet of earth.
While contacted, Assistant Commissioner of Land of Syedpur Upazila Parimol Kumar Sarkar said we have completed the land survey and sketch map.
When completed, the gas pipeline would enhance industrialisation of Syedpur City and would be helpful for Syedpur Railway workshop.
