Govt to take decision about weak banks soon

BB Governor says at a view-exchange meeting in UAE

The interim government is thinking of interfering about the country’s weak banks and to come to a decision immediately about them, said Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr Ahsan H Mansur.

Governor said they have already discussed with the representatives concerned in different countries to forfeit properties of the persons involved in siphoning off money and to arrest them. 

Governor made the remarks while addressing a view exchange meeting with Bangladeshi expatriates in Dubai, UAE, jointly organised by Islami Bank PLC and Janata Bank in 15 May.

Bangladesh envoy in UAE, Tarek Ahmed attended the view exchange event as the special guest.  

 While addressing, Tarek praised the expatriate Bangladeshis in UAE for sending huge amount of remittance in recent months. 

CEO of Janata Bank UAE Mohammad Qamrujjaman presided over the meeting while Chairman of Janata Bank Md. Fazlur Rahman, Islami Bank Director Md Khurshid Wahab, Managing Director Janata Bank, Md. Majubur Rahman and Managing Director of Islami Bank, Omor Faruk Khan also spoke on the occasion.

Janata Bank Chairman announced that the bank is going to open some 13 booths of the bank in different cities in UAE immediately.
