Govt to ensure safe, nutritious food

Environment Minister says

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin on Monday said the government is working tirelessly to ensure a pollution-free environment and safe and nutritious food for the people of the country. 

“Bangladesh is self-sufficient in food, now toxic substances and pathogens free safe and healthy food should be ensured. Everyone must come forward to ensure safe food to make the country's people healthy. The minister said this while addressing a seminar titled 'Food safety in meat value chain' at the Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University on Monday.

Minister Shahab Uddin said it is a pleasure that the Sher -e -Bangla Agricultural University is implementing the project on safe red meat. “They are working to make people aware of this, promote the idea of safe meat and ensure that we can get clean meat food as a source of perfect food,” he added.

The minister urged students to work to ensure safe food for all.

Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Shahidur Rashid Bhuiyan presided over the seminar while Treasurer of the University Professor Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam; Chairman of Bangladesh Food Safety Authority Abdul Kayowm Sarker; Assistant Representative (Program) of the Food and Agriculture Organization Dr. Nur Ahmed Khandaker and Team Leader and Proctor of the University Professor Dr. Harun Ur Rashid were present among others.

A roundtable discussion titled 'Meat Food Safety A Way to Ensure Healthy Life and Wellbeing', mega quiz competition and award distribution ceremony was also held.

Invited guests, teachers, scientists, researchers and students of various public-private research institutes and universities also spoke on the occasion.
