Govt distributes over Tk 25m among flood-hit people

The government has so far distributed over Taka 2.54 crore in cash among the flood affected people as nearly 55 lakh people have been affected by the recent devastating flood, reports BSS.

“The government has so far distributed Taka 2, 54, 71,200 out of Taka 4,16,50,000 in cash among the flood affected people,” according to the data based on the district administration till August 5.

In addition to this, the government has also allocated 16,410 tonnes of rice –from which 10,575 tonnes were distributed among the flood affected people in 33 districts.

Besides, Taka 71.53 lakh out of Taka 1.38 crore has been distributed as baby food assistance while more than Taka 1.48 crore out Taka 2.86 crore has been distributed for procuring cattle feed.

“A total of 1,23,000 packets dry food have been distributed among the flood affected people across the country,” the release said, adding that the government also allocated 300 bundles corrugated iron sheet and Taka 9 lakh as household grant.

A total of 10.16 lakh families were marooned and 54, 91,282 people were affected while 1,057 unions and 160 upazilas were flooded. Around 71,594 people have been taken to 1,479 flood shelter centers in the flood-hit districts.
