Mushfiqur Rahman Ifat, teenage son of a high official of the National Board of Revenue (NBR), who recently drew public attention and criticism over buying an Eid sacrificial goat at a cost of Tk 12 lakh (Taka 1.2 million), is also owner of several luxury cars.
Now, Ifat is planning to sell his four expensive cars within a month before moving to Canada.

On CarHub BD (official group), Mushfiqur Rahman Ifat posted in English, “I want to sell four of my cars (Prado 70, Civic, Majesta, Premio) within a month because I am moving to Canada. Inbox for details.”

Sources indicate that Ifat has a penchant for buying expensive cars and watches. He has posted numerous videos on Facebook showcasing watches worth lakhs of takas and luxury cars.
Ifat lived on the fifth floor of the Imperial Sultana Building on Road No. 8 in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. When visited on Friday, the apartment was empty. The building’s security guard reported that Ifat left on Tuesday and has not returned since.
Earlier this year, Ifat was involved in an accident in Dhanmondi due to reckless driving. A video surfaced on Facebook showing him being beaten by members of the public and handed him over to the police. He was detained at the Dhanmondi police station overnight and released the next morning.
Ifat’s father, Dr Md Matiur Rahman, is the president of the NBR’s Customs, Excise, and VAT Appellate Tribunal. However, after the viral ‘goat incident’ Matiur Rahman had stated that Ifat was not known to him and he has no relation with Ifat.
Later, it was revealed that Ifat is the son of Matiur Rahman’s second wife. Ifat’s mother, Shammi Akhtar Shiuli aka Shibu, is Matiur Rahman’s second wife. Matiur Rahman has three children with her.
Meanwhile, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has received allegations against Dr Md Matiur Rahman for amassing a large amount of illegal wealth. After verifying the complaint submitted in the first week of this month, the commission has decided to investigate. ACC officials are already on the ground.
According to ACC sources, four corruption allegations were previously filed against Matiur with the commission. However, due to his lobbying pressure, he was given a ‘clean certificate’ each time, meaning those allegations were not investigated further.
This time, however, the commission has decided to take the complaint seriously and initiate an investigation.
An official of the ACC, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that the complaint is being investigated this time by the commission’s banking division. If evidence of illegal assets in Matiur and his family members’ names is found during the investigation, legal action will be taken against them.
According to ACC sources, the allegations against him include information on a vast amount of assets in both his name and others. He has amassed enormous wealth through corruption and abuse of power. He owns houses, cars, flats, plots of land, businesses, shares, cash in banks, and fixed deposits—all in his name.
