A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed among Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), North South University (NSU) & The University of Miyazaki, Japan recently in Dhaka for conducting B-JET (Bangladesh-Japan ICT Engineers Training) Program.
The MoU signing ceremony took place at the Conference Room of BCC, ICT Tower, Agargaon in the capital
B-JET was a 3-year-long pilot model which provides three months of full-time training on Japanese Language, Business Manner and ITEE (IT Engineer Examination) under the project "The Project for Skills Development of IT Engineers Targeting Japanese Market" implemented by BCC in collaboration with JICA since 2017. So far, 280 IT engineers received training under B-JET, among them, 265 trainees successfully completed the B-JET program and nearly 200 trainees got job opportunities in various cities of Japan.
Besides, 60 trainees got the job in Bangladeshi ICT industries. The job placement rate is 98%.
After successfully completing the B-JET Program, JICA and BCC were looking forward to selecting the most suitable organization to hand over this exclusive flagship training program to carry on with more extended mode.
Five reputed institutions expressed their interest to take over the B-JET program, among them proposal jointly submitted by North South University, in collaboration with the University of Miyazaki, has been accepted by BCC.
NSU and the University of Miyazaki has further collaborated with BJIT Group, a Bangladeshi company that is also active in Japan, as well as the Japanese companies B&M and Keirinkan, which have experience working in Bangladesh.
NSU and the University of Miyazaki will provide B-JET training, and BJIT alongwith B&M will arrange job placement for trainees in Japan.
On the occasion of the MoU signing ceremony, Yuho Hayakawa, Chief Representative, JICA Bangladesh Office welcomed the parties signed the MoU, which will create win-win situation for both Bangladesh and Japan. Prof. M. Ismail Hossain, Pro Vice-Chancellor of NSU express his feeling to receive such a prestigious program under NSU and committed to offer this 05-months course at very minimum cost only 10000 taka/person for the total program.
Prof. Tsuyomu Ikenoue, President, University of Miyazaki also expressed its keen interest to invest in this program as Miyazaki Model for ICT Engineers Program in well popularized not only in Miyazaki but also in some other prefecture of Japan due to high the intelligence level of Bangladeshi ICT Engineers. The Chief Guest Parthapratim Deb, Executive Director, BCC, expressed that this program certainly would keep a significant contribution towards the achievement of the knowledge-base country by 2041 and a large number of Bangladeshi ICT graduates would get opportunity in the Japanese ICT Industries.
At the closing speech Mohammad Enamul Kabir, Director (Training), BCC shared his views that this MoU will widen the horizon of skilled ICT workforce towards Japan.

Golam Sarwar, Project Director, Yuki Morishita, JICA Expert, Takeo Uzawa, JICA Expert, Akihiro Shoji, JICA Expert, Prof. Mohammad Khasru Miah, Director, Career and Placement Center, NSU, Dr. Javed Bari, Dean, School of Engineering & Physical Science were present physically at this auspicious event.
Among others Prof. Tasturo Shinchi, Vice President (Education), Prof. Keisuke Murakami, Vice President (International Relations), Shinnosuke Tasaka, Visiting Professor, the University of Miyazaki, Yushibumi Bito, Senior Representative and Ginza Nakadai, Representative, JICA Bangladesh Office virtually joined in this MoU ceremony.
